Conscious Sedation

At Better Image Dentistry, we want to ensure that your dental treatment is as comfortable and painless as possible – whether you are having a dental checkup or hygiene appointment, treatment for a broken or damaged tooth, or cosmetic dentistry.

Under conscious sedation, you will experience a state of pain-free relaxation during your dental visit. You will feel as if you are sleeping comfortably throughout the dental treatment and may have no memory of the procedure afterward.

Better Image Dentistry offers a range of methods for pain management for patients being treated at our office in Bridgewater (Somerset County), NJ. Please contact us for more information.

What Is Conscious Sedation?

Conscious sedation involves the use of pain relievers and sedatives to place the patient into a state of relaxation, much deeper than nitrous oxide. Unlike general anesthesia, you will still be able to breathe on your own and respond to physical stimulation and verbal commands.

What are the Benefits of Conscious Sedation?

  • You will feel little or no discomfort when the anesthetic is administered
  • You will feel no pain during your dental treatment
  • You will remain conscious, but completely relaxed

What Should I Expect if I Have Conscious Sedation?

This form of sedation in our office is usually accomplished using Valium in combination with Nitrous Oxide. Dr. Fairweather will discuss the appropriate dosage for you. If you choose to use this form of sedation, you will need to have someone drive you to and from your appointment.

Is Conscious Sedation a Good Option for Me?

Because every patient is unique, Dr. Fairweather and his professional staff will evaluate your specific dental condition to determine whether conscious sedation is a good option for you. Please contact us to schedule a consultation at our office in Bridgewater, NJ.
