Do I Need an Onlay?

An onlay is a “partial” crown. Dr. Fairweather will diagnose the need for an onlay using several different techniques:

• A visual dental exam
• DIAGNOdent
• Digital X-rays

An onlay is a great option if:

• More than 50% of your tooth is affected by decay or damage (for example, a fracture)
• There is more damage than a filling can repair, but less damage than what would require a crown to repair

What Should I Expect if I Need an Onlay?

Years ago, onlays required two visits to the dentist. Today, thanks to CEREC CAD/CAM technology, your onlay will be fabricated and completed in just one visit. The result is truly beautiful and strong
